People of Ndasiman gets new nursery School

Ndasiman (C/R), March 23, GNA - The Central Regional Minister, Mr. Isaac Edumadze on Wednesday inaugurated an 80.330 million cedis three classroom block day care centre for the people of Ndasiman in the Mfantseman District.

The project was jointly established by the community and Hunger Project Ghana as part of its community initiated project in the district.

Mr Edumadze commanded the Hunger Project for its development project, stressing that the day care centre would enable children of the community and its surrounding areas to have assess to quality pre-school education.

He noted that Hunger Project has partnered several communities in the region to undertake various development initiative geared toward the elimination of hunger, poverty and disease in the region and was hopeful that the partnership, will grow to enable more community to realise positive development in their lives.

The Minister, however expressed concern about how some resources and facilities were under- utilised, stressing that a number projects have been completed and inaugurated with fun-fare and merry making, only to find them neglected or completely abandoned.

He, in this regard, urged parents in the community to enrol the children at the centre and told them that government, through its new education policy intended to place emphasis on pre-primary school education.

Mr Edumadze also tasked the district assembly to ensure that the facility does not become a white elephant, but be put to maximum use so as to motivate the Hunger Project to extend similar projects to other communities and urged them to regard the project as their own and develop the culture of maintenance to enable it to last longer.

Dr. Fititu Tadesse, Vice President of Hunger Project commended the community communal spirit and gave the assurance that the project would help eliminate hunger, poverty, disease among the people by supporting them with the necessary facilities.

He urged them to invest in their children's education, which he said was very important in fighting hunger.

Mr. Robert Quainoo Arthur, District Chief Executive on his part, expressed concern that students wasted their time in cinema halls and video centres instead of studying, and warned that the district assembly has pass a bye-law to arrest any child of school going-age found roaming about after 2000 hrs. p.m.

He urged the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme, which he said, has taken off in the Mfantseman District. Mrs Matilda Bannaman-Mensah, District Director of Education also commended Hunger Project for building the centre and said this would enable the children to cultivate acceptable behaviour at tender age, so as to check indiscipline in the society.

She also entreated parents to enrol their children and provide them with their needs to enable the to stay in school.
