People of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba discuss health problems

Sawla (N/R), Nov. 21, GNA - The Ghana Health Services (GHS) has held a durbar of chiefs and people in the new Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district to discuss health problems facing the people in the area. The durbar, the first of its kind to be organised by the GHS in the area, brought together over 150 participants, including chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, assembly members, and the general public. The District Director of Health, Hajia Awabu Mahama, in her welcoming address, thanked the chiefs for their zeal and commitment towards solving health issues in the area and for facilitating outreach services embarked by health staff for expectant mothers and also children under five years.

She said advised the chiefs to educate their people to fully utilise the various health facilities in their area. Hajia Mahama tasked the chiefs to encourage their people to ensure all children under five years were immunised and that they should fully patronise the outreach services, programmes and routine immunisation carried out in their communities by health personnel.

The Kunfusiwura E.F. Jeduah on behalf of all the chiefs in the area, appealed to the Director General of Health to provide the area with a pickup vehicle for the smooth running of health delivery system. In an address read for him, the District Chief Executive, Mr James Kipo Sunyazi, thanked the chiefs for their concern on health issues and the development of the district and pledged the assembly's commitment and intention to extend water and electricity to most of the health facilities in the area to make them more functional.
