Sefwi-Datano (W/R), July 16, GNA - Ogye-Ahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, Paramount Chief of the Sefwi-Wiaso Traditional Area, has expressed concern about the "bad name" people have for the area due to alleged ritual murders and killings and called on peace loving people not to hesitate to expose such criminal acts for action. The Paramount chief was speaking at a durbar at Sefwi-Datano in the Wiaso District in honour of Professor Frimpong Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and a citizen of the town on Saturday.
He said the area needed peace for accelerated development and said Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene would soon start adjudicating on various chieftaincy disputes in the area and called co-operation for his efforts to succeed.
Ogye Ahuhuo Gyebi commended Prof Frimpong Boateng for his efforts and support for his family, the people of Sefwi and Ghana and urged him to continue to do more to facilitate the development of the country. He was optimistic that given the opportunity, he would perform creditably looking at his professional career and his ability to transform Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to what it is now. Prof Frimpong Boateng who was presented with a Kente cloth, a wooden stool, traditional sandals and a carving thanked the people for the honour done him and pledged to do more to enhance the development. He urged the people to take a keen interest in the education of their children since that was the backbone to development and to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme so that they could have quality health care when they were sick. Prof Boateng asked the people not to allow party politics to divide their ranks but to unite and work hard to improve on their standard of living.
Nana Buru Sanwu III, Chief of Datano, said the people were happy to have him home and promised to support his political ambition. He said the presents to him, was an indication that they were committed to his cause.
Prof Frimpong Boateng's mother hails from Datano while his father is from Nkawie Kuma in the Atwima Nwabigya District of Ashanti.
