Mr Joseph Kumado of the Trokosi Abolition Fellowship, a Non-Governmental Organisation, has said that people wrongly accused of contracting the HIV virus have the right to take legal action against their accusers.
"It is unacceptable for people to be stigmatised as having contracted the HIV virus just because they have lost some weight. Some fat and healthy looking individuals could be HIV positive."
Mr Kumado said this at a durbar organised by Kabu/Atabui Community Based Organisation (CBO) to educate the people of the area on the dangers of HIV/AIDS at Kabu on the Mamfi-Koforidua road.
He said it was only a Medical Officer who could declare a fellow of having HIV positive.
Mr Emmanuel Tetteh, contact fellow of the CBO, said his organisation had trained 80 people to undertake house-to-house education campaign on the HIV/AIDS virus at Kabu, Apesika, Atebui and Otaresu.
He said the trainees were also expected to bring a feed back to enable the organisation to know if its education programme was effective.
