Accra June 7, GNA - A 45 year-old pepper grinder who defiled a four year old girl in a church, was on Monday sentenced to 10-years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
Kwadwo Kuffuor, unmarried and has no child of his own, pleaded guilty to defilement and the court convicted him on his own plea. When the trial judge asked Kuffuor reasons for his action, he was unable to tell the court, but admitted that he defiled the victim once. Prosecuting Inspector I. A. A. Ahor told the court presided over by Mrs Georgina Mensah Datsa that the victim who is in Kindergarten two, lives with the convict at Odorkor.
Prosecution said Kuffuor lives near a church building where he had been employed as a cleaner. The victim had been going into the church to beat drums.
On May 28, this year, at about 7:00 pm, the victim went into the church to beat the drums. While beating the drums, Kuffuor called the victim and placed her on his lap and sexually abused her. Prosecution said when the victim's mother who is a trader went to call the victim from the church, she saw fresh semen on the victim and quizzed her over that. When the victim's mother examined her further, she saw fresh semen in her vagina. Prosecution said when the victim's mother questioned Kuffuor whose "manhood was still ready for action", he admitted defiling the victim. The Victim's mother reported the incident to the Police who arrested the accused. A medical form was issued to the victim for a check up.
