Mr Kweku Baah, counsel for Kwame Peprah, the jailed former Minister of Finance, on Wednesday evening, stopped the producer of Metro TV’s ''Good Evening Ghana'' from holding a programme to further discuss the Justice Kwame Afreh judgement on the Quality Grain case.
This follows the issuance of a writ seeking a perpetual injunction and a gagging order that stopped Metro TV and other media houses from discussing and passing further comments on the landmark judgement delivered by Justice Afreh on Monday.
Following the filing of writ, without an accompanying statement of claim, the station decided to err on the side of caution by canceling the scheduled programme upon advice from Joe Ghartey, of Ghartey and Ghartey, solicitors for the TV station.
It will be recalled that last Tuesday evening, Metro TV held a gripping panel discussion on Justice Kwame Afreh’s judgement. The programme which was hosted by Paul Adom Otchere had three lawyers, Mr Yuni Kulendi, Mr Akuffo and Nana Asante Bediatuo all of whom described the judgement as a landmark one in the legal history of Ghana.
Reached to comment on Mr Kweku Baah’s latest move, a lawyer who pleaded anonymity said he sides with Lawyer Kweku Baah in seeking a perpetual injunction to restrain the media from further discussions since he has intentions of filing an appeal.
