The Minister
Ministry of Justice and Attorney General
Accra.
15th May, 2012.
Dear Sir,
Petition To Expedite Action On The Wayome Court Case
We, the members of The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), based on feedback received from the general public following our May 9, 2012 press conference are convinced beyond all reasonable doubt, that the good people of this country are in no way prepared for further delays in commencing the trial of Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
To this end, AFAG acting on behalf of Ghanaians is calling on you to take a cue from the words of Mr. Martin Amidu, former AG and Minister of Justice that “time is of essence now otherwise the Republic would be perceived as unnecessarily delaying the case”. In addition, the words of advice from Justice Ajet-Nassam, the trial judge, to the prosecution team to “get serious or throw in the towel” should inform you to act appropriately.
Nonetheless, we are of the conviction that in the interest of the people of this country; your outfit will not further delay the opening of the case when court resumes this week. AFAG has no doubt that, there is enough evidence and material available for the state to commence the trial.
Sir, in the interest of the state, we urge you to Act swiftly by commencing the trial to help dispense justice.
Yours faithfully,
Nana Ayew Afriyie (Dr) Arnold Boateng
Chairman
