A 25-year-old commercial photographer has been sentenced by the Tema Circuit Tribunal to 18 months' imprisonment for assaulting his mother because she had refused to comply with his order to quit her own house.
The photographer, Mr. Alex Bedu, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and begged the court for leniency, saying that the evil spirits had forced him to commit the crime.
Last month, Mr. Bedu who lives in the same house with his mother, Madam Stella Acquah, at Community Seven, ordered her to quit the house within three days.
However, the mother took the order as a joke and laughed it off.
However early this month, he again approached his mother and demanded why she had not quit from the house. She was later assaulted by her son, resulting in the loss of two of her teeth and sustaining multiple abrasions on her face.
