Professor Charles Marfo Ofori, a former University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) president, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) shouldn't be taken seriously should they appoint a woman as their running mate.

Prof. Marfo chided the NPP's handling of gender politics, particularly in response to the National Democratic Congress (NDC's) recent appointment of a female running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

"I like women a lot, so you can even refer to me as a womanizer; it's fine, so I don't have a problem with women.

"But if they (the NPP) appoint a woman, it is going to be so clear that it is because of Jane. It has unsettled them, and we should not consider such a party as a serious one," he said on a panel discussion on Oyerepa TV on April 26, 2024.

He went on to assert that the presence of a woman at the forefront of the NDC has thrown a wrench into the NPP's plans, disrupting their strategies and exposing their vulnerabilities.

"Jane has unsettled them, decapitated their strategies, that is how I see it. Not that I am canvassing for Matthew Opoku Prempeh, but that man has done well," he added.
