Accra, June 4, GNA - Parliament on Friday passed the Plants Bill meant to provide for effective and efficient plant protection and prevent the introduction and spread of plant pest. It is also to regulate the production, sale, offer or exposure for sale of agricultural, vegetable and other seeds and regulate the importation, sale and production of fertilizers. Mr Yaw Effah-Baafi, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture read the motion for the bill to be read the third time after which it was passed. The bill is divided into four parts with the first three parts providing for plant protection, seed and fertilizers and the last part providing for miscellaneous matters. Mr Cletus Avoka, Majority Leader earlier explained to the House that most members were late for business to begin because of the rain. 4 June 10
