Plymouth University Officials visit STCCI

A three member delegation from the Plymouth University in the United Kingdom (Britain) has paid a working visit to the Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to find areas of collaboration between the Chamber and that of Plymouth Chamber.

Mr Tony Rea, Consultant on Higher Education at the Plymouth University, who led the delegation, made up of Jessica Randell Head of International Development and Valerie Huggins, Associate Head Partnerships, said already there is a sister-city collaboration in education and health between Plymouth city and the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA).

Last year, 30 surgeries were performed under the “operation hernia “project, whiles a team of four from the Ahantaman Girls School visited the Plymouth City on an exchange programme.

The Plymouth city relationship with the STMA would also look at strengthening businesses between the two cities and also form a stronger partnership for growth.

Mr Ato Van-Ess, the Chairman of the STCCI expressed gratitude to Plymouth city and commended the STMA for the partnership.

He said the chamber recognized education and training as pillars to develop the human resource base of the country.

Already, a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed between the Takoradi Polytechnic and the Chamber on the modalities for training Small and Medium Enterprises to apply best business and economic skills in doing business.

Mr. Vincent Annan, the Chief Executive of the Chamber said the STCCI would embark on a trade mission to the Plymouth Chamber to enhance the business partnership.
