Polack denies double training sessions a day

The 56-year-old maverick gaffer has vehemently rejected claims in the local media that his outfit trains twice a day since he took over the helm of affairs

Asante Kotoko coach Steve Polack has denied reports that he and his charges do train two times a day and has expressed shock to hear such reports in the local media.

There was a widespread reportage that the Porcupine Warriors are now having a double training session following the appointment of the ex-King Faisal boss in his bid to turn things around in the ongoing top-flight.

However, the outspoken Englishman has poured cold water on the reports that have gained currency in the media, adding there is no iota of truth in them and should be disregarded.

''We don't train twice a day to be frank with you,'' he spewed when asked about the authenticity of the reports in an interview with Light FM

''I don't know where these news are coming from and when it started. For me you can't train twice a day especially in Africa,'' he reckons.

He continued: ''How can you train twice a day when you've six days in the week and one day to play a match; knowing very well that your players will have to play for 90minutes?,''

''This isn't possible because they'll need some ample rest and that's why I'm giving them that. We took notice of this in our last game that we played,''

''Their efforts and fitness levels are in the right directions and are getting better at the moment.''

Steve Polack has amassed his first maximum three points in yesterday's Ghana Premier League match day 16 clash against Tema Youth.
