Centre In Ododiodio

Acting on credible information received from a source in ododiodio that an NDC ward executive is using his tailoring shop for illegal Biometric registration, the Young Patriots made contact with the police service and some media houses to catch the culprits in the act adjacent the Barclays Bank at UTC in ododiodio.

The culprit Mr Bernard Allotey with his accomplices, were arrested with biometric registration forms, scanning machines and equipments being used for registration. They also had in their possession, over 500 completed forms and biometric ID cards yet to be distributed.

However in the regular mysterious fashion in which the Police handle cases related to the ‘no go area’ of Nii Lantey Vandapouye, the Police have since released the culprits who have vanished and are threatening Mr Akwasi Sarpong of Happy FM.

Mr Sarpong ironically was made to write a statement by the Police as a complainant, in the full glare of the culprits who made him out and have since threatened to silence him forever. Mr Sarpong was just being a responsible citizen by blowing the whistle but has now become a possible target of assassination. The Young Patriots fear for his life.

The Young Patriots find the police action at variance with the stance of the IGP, that the police will be fair and will spare no one in their line of duty if they commit crime. Odododiodio cannot forever remain an albatross on the neck of Ghana’s electoral fortunes due to the political ambitions of one person, and the fear of the police hierarchy to deal with him because he works in the office of the President as a Special advisor.

QUESTIONS

1. How did Mr Bernard Allotey come by the electoral materials and machines?

2. At what time were the people registered and who were the agents for the various political parties?

3. How come ID cards were in their possession when registrants were supposed to take them on the spot after registering?

4. What role did the Electoral commission (EC) and Commissioner play in covering up this operation? The EC has since sought to play down the matter on the grounds that party agents agreed to this illegality.

5. Why has Mr Sarpong been exposed by the Police to perpetrators of this crime?

We need urgent answers to these questions and a full scaled investigation into the matter under the auspices of the IGP and the Electoral Commissioner. Any attempt to sweep this issue under the carpet will be fiercely resisted if fairness is not brought to bear.

Young Patriots calls on all civil society organizations, the media and individuals who found their voices to condemn Hon Kennedy to equally condemn this cover up and edge the Police, EC and the government to fully investigate and prosecute offenders of this case to serve as a deterrent to all parties or persons who want to circumvent the process for their parochial interest.
