Police Beef Up Patrol

THE GHANA Police Service has intensified its post election patrols to curtail any unforeseen circumstances.

Director General of Police Operations, COP John Kudalor in an interviewsaid the patrols were not intended to scare or cow any individuals or group of persons during an interview at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

Explaining, he said the deployment of security persons had been segmented into three phases – before, during and after the elections.

At about 10:00am when DAILY GUIDE arrived at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, tens of hundreds of personnel drawn from mostly the operational units of the Police Service were being dispatched on patrol duties.

Asked if the men were being dispatched to some special assignments, COP Kudalor said they were just on normal patrol duties.

He reiterated that post election patrols may end somewhere in April.

The police chief noted the team had earlier been to places like Nungua, Dansoman, Dzorwulu and Ablekuma among others areas.

Asked what the state of preparedness of the security agencies was in case of any insurgency, COP Kudalor said the laws of the country were clear.

The constitution would be executed to the letter he warned urging aggrieved persons to use laid down procedures to address their concerns.

He called on Ghanaians to put everything behind them as the election was now over.

He asked that the Ghanaian people cooperate with the police to ensure peace.

He said at least everyone witnessed how the elections had been peaceful.

He noted “this is what we all want for mother Ghana.”
