Police Church in anniversary walk

Accra, Oct. 23, GNA - Religious Leaders have been called upon to educate their members on the need to maintain the peace before, during and after Election 2004.

The Very Reverend B. D. Quansah, Chaplain General of the Ghana Police Church, made the call at the end of the Church's 40th Anniversary Walk in Accra on Saturday.

The Very Rev. Quansah said: "We are all yearning for peaceful elections and it is the duty of churches and their leaders to ensure that Ghanaians continued to enjoy the prevailing peace in the country. He said churches could play a leading role in the socio-economic development of the country if they were well informed about Government's policies and programmes for them to pass them on to their congregations. The Very Rev. Quansah charged members of Church to strengthen the love they had for each other so that the Church to would grow from strength to strength.

The Walk formed part of the activities marking anniversary being celebrated under the general theme: "Whom Shall I Send, And Who Will Go For Us."

It was aimed at creating awareness of the Church's anniversary and the role it plays in harmonising the relationship between the Police and the general public.

The Walk started from the Church, through the Independence Avenue to the 37 Military Hospital, along the Achimota Highway to Kwawo Kudi Junction; along the Kanda Highway through Kanda, to TV 3 and then to Independence Avenue to the Flagstaff House, 37 Military Hospital and back to the Church.

Some of the Walkers held placards some of which read: "Come To Jesus"; "If You Don't Go To Heaven Don't Blame Jesus"; "Repent and Be Saved" and "Love And Help Each Other".

The climax of the anniversary would be a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, October 31.
