The Madina Police has cautioned and discharged members of the pro-NPP pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance after they held a political public event without police notification.

The caution came after a marathon meeting held between leaders of the alliance and the Madina Police, Monday.

The Let My Vote Count Alliance had its maiden rally last week at Dome Kwabenya, a suburb of Accra without the consent of the police and in violation of the Public Order Act.

The rally was to educate the public on the need by the leaders of the NPP to petition the Supreme Court over what they claim was a fraudulent election held in December last year.

Leaders of the group, Abu Ramadan of the PNC, Kwabena Bonfeh, a former Youth Organiser of the CPP, David Asante and several others took turns to address the public on the issue.

The Police were enraged by the action of the group and therefore invited its leaders for questioning.

On Monday, some leading members of the NPP, including Deputy Communication Director Sammy Awuku, lawyer Mike Ocquaye Jnr. accompanied leaders of the Alliance to the Police, Joy News’ Benjamin Tetteh reported.

He said the meeting was held behind closed doors with journalists nosing around to pick vital information from the police and the group.

After several minutes of meeting, it emerged that the police cautioned and discharged the members of alliance to play by the rules and respect the Public Order Act.

The Alliance held its second rally on Sunday, this time in Eastern Region and with the approval by the police.
