Accra, (Greater Accra Region) 15 Oct. The Greater Accra Regional Police Command realized 25.8 million cedis from 456 arrests made since it took over operations from the Police Headquarters two months ago to bring sanity into the metropolis. Mr Ohene Ntiri, Second in Command, told the GNA in Accra today that fines for obstruction amounted to 16.895 million cedis while fines from motor offences raked in 8.905 million cedis. He said the fines ranged from between 50,000 cedis to 100,000 cedis. Mr Ntiri said despite the success of the operation so far, ''there are still some recalcitrant hawkers and drivers who feel the exercise is a nine-days' wonder.'' He said the operation will continue "forever" and those arrested will be prosecuted. Mr Ntiri called on the general public to cooperate with the police to make it a success and advised drivers and hawkers to be law abiding to avoid arrests. Gri.
