Some police personnel in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) district have been accused of collecting huge sums of money from families of drowned persons before conveying their retrieved corpses to the morgues.

These came to light during the Central Regional rally of the People?s Assembly held at Elmina. A questioner asked what action the authorities would take to address the problem, but an attempt by the Regional Minister, Mr. Isaac Edumadze, to find out the truth of the matter was met with boos and murmuring from a section of the gathering which ?drowned? the Minister?s speech

Some members of the KEEA Assembly interviewed by THE GHANAIAN TIMES, confirmed the allegation against the police.
