Police Inspector warns husbands

Nkwabeng (B/A), May 9, GNA - Inspector Samuel Amfoh of Nkoranza Police Station has warned men who subject their wives to inhumane treatment such as beating and unnecessary harassment to stop or prepare to face the full rigours of the law.

Inspector Amfoh, an elder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Nkoranza gave the warning whilst delivering a talk on domestic violence at a family life revival of Nkwabeng central and north SDA churches at Nkwabeng.

"The fact that men contract marriage with women does not necessarily mean that women are slaves and that they can be treated anyhow", he said.

Inspector Amfoh urged men with such negative behaviour to change and to regard their wives as partners in development. He deplored the practice by some couples to discriminate among their children, saying such practice was a gender-based violence punishable by law. The Police Inspector appealed to women to support their husbands and assist them in managing the family. Pastor Jacob Attah Ankomah, in-charge of Nkoranza South district of SDA church urged women to respect their husbands, be submissive and humble to win their affection. He called on couples to have fellow feeling for each other, adding that such loving spirit would allow God to bless them as a happy family.
