Thu, 10 Mar 2005 Source: --

Police investigations have begun into armed robbery attacks on a resident of East Legon whose house has been invaded twice in 7 days.

The robber?s first attempt was botched because of burglar alarm and security systems in the victims? house.

But the robbers seemed intent on succeeding in their 2nd attempt early this morning.

They climbed and cut their way through an electric fence, and hacked their way through burglarproof doors with axes.

Armed with guns, crowbars and pliers, the five robbers fired five rounds of shots and broke down almost all the doors in the house in search of loot and foreign currency.

They took away a bag with about 50 Pound Sterling, at least ? 500,000, a digital camera and a Gucci watch.

At least five other residents have also been robbed at gunpoint in the last 7 days in the same neighborhood.
