Police-Military team make more arrests

The joint Police/Military anti-armed robbery team said on Friday that they have made more arrests of suspected criminals in operations throughout the country.

A statement from the Ghana Armed Forces said the team on Friday arrested Kofi Achisi, a suspected criminal at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle armed with a cutlass and two others suspected to be pickpockets for snatching a bag from a passer-by.

A suspected armed robber, Paul Annak and two others, Iddrisu Martin, a Senegalese and William Harrison, a Nigerian were also arrested at the Kingsby Hotel at Achimota.

Last Tuesday, the statement said, the joint patrol team again arrested two suspects at Ashaiman for attempting to hijack a cab with registration number GR 3339 Q after stabbing the driver in the right arm.

At Madina, occupants of a Peugeot caravan with registration number ER 2471 C fled after seeing the patrol team. A search conducted in the vehicle revealed a quantity of iron rods believed to have been stolen.

It said the team also arrested a member of a gang of robbers, one Ebenezer alias Jagger Pee at Mpataba on the Ivorian border and three other armed robbers who mounted roadblocks on the Atebubu-Yeji motorway to rob traders.

At Kubease, near Ejisu another three persons were arrested in a taxi with registration number GH 2161 with two crowbars, a pump action gun, a revolver and 11 carts.
