Prosecution of persons suspected to be behind the death of Alhaji Issah Mobila will begin after further investigation has been conducted by the Police into the case. The Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Hon. Osei Kwame Prempeh announced this in Parliament when he answered some questions in the house.
He said, the Police will use the vacation period of the courts which will begin from July to Mid-October this year to conduct the investigation. Hon. Osei Kwame said, Alhaji Issah Mobila was picked up by the police on 9th December, 2004 in connection with sporadic firing of guns in Tamale on the 8th of December, 2004 and dawn of 9th December 2004. He was later transferred from the custody of the Police to Military custody after allegations that his supporters were planning to attack the police station to release him.
The Minister said, whilst in Military custody, Alhaji Issah Mobila was alleged to have collapsed and rushed to hospital where he died. He said, it will pre-judicial to accuse anyone of murdering the victim based on Autopsy Report because, it is the duty of the court to pronounce judgement on the issue.
