Accra, Aug. 9, GNA - The Police Public Affairs Directorate has frowned on the way some journalists and social commentators are taking advantage of the ongoing cocaine probe to malign and ridicule the entire membership of the Police Service.
A statement Chief Inspector Freeman Tettey signed for the Director of Public Affairs said some journalists and social commentators were deliberately causing disaffection among the personnel and public mistrust in the Police.
"This is unacceptable and dangerous for the discharge of the responsibilities of the Police".
The statement said the Service would like to remind those journalists and social commentators, who wanted to cause mischief, to desist from such acts since the entire security system stood to suffer. The statement noted that the displeasure did not suggest an endorsement of the wrongdoings or misconduct of some Police Officers but rather advising the media to see the Police as partners in the fight against crime instead of individual journalists and social commentators waging relentless war on the Police.
The statement urged the media to encourage the majority of Police Officers, who were doing a good job and not to run down the entire Service through persistent maligning and ridiculing.
