The Northern regional police command has apologised to the king of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, and the entire Dagbon kingdom following a raid at his palace by some officers who were pursuing an articulator driver.

In an apology letter signed by the Northern Regional police commander, COP Yoosa Bonga, the police administration assured the overlord that the officers who have been interdicted will be dealt with accordingly.

“The regional command wants to assure you that the officers involved have been interdicted and will be dealt with administratively and in accordance with the laws of the land.

“We sincerely apologize to you and assure you that, the incident will never repeat itself. Again we assure you and the people of this kingdom the best of our service,” the letter noted.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the palace is demanding outright dismissal of the officers involved.

It will be recalled that, on January 16, 2020, an articulated driver was assaulted and injured by some police officers at the Gbewaa palace in Yendi.

The assault was after the said driver was stopped at a police checkpoint on the Bimbila – Yendi road but refused to stop.

The police patrol team in the area were alerted to arrest him. After sensing danger from the patrol team, the driver went to seek refuge at the Gbewaa palace where the officers invaded and in anger forced him out of the palace and allegedly assaulted him.
