Police arrest 22 armed robbers, seize 32 bags of wee, guns and other ammunition

Police in Nkawkaw have arrested twenty-two armed robbers who were overpowered after the leader of the robbers, Brama Salifu aged 70, exchanged gun fire with the police operation team at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.

Brama Salifu who refused to surrender like his 21 other colleagues was shot by police in the right hand and overpowered by the Police. He was rushed to the Kwahu Government Hospital, Atibie for treatment under guard.

The police swoop, MyNewsGH.com confirmed from the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, occurred today around 11:20am.

The suspects were accosted by the police in their hide out at Anyiresu, a village over the bank of the Afram lake. The robbers are alleged to be among those behind the recent robbery attacks within the Kwahu enclave.

A search conducted at their hideout by the police revealed they had thirty-two sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp or wee, ten SB short guns, four locally manufactured pistols, fifteen live BB cartridges, two chainsaw machines, ten empty BB cartridges and two boxes of assorted restricted drugs were retrieved.

The names of the 22 alleged armed robbers are Yakubu; age 34, Sulley Issah; age 34, Kwadwo Ekeham; 18 years, Agbematu Francis 47 years, Hilali Dari; age 30

Dodzi Efiavor; age 25, Mawutor Agbala;28 years, Kofi Musah; 23 years, Mohammed Atuyie; age 39,Osman Sumana; 28 years, Bone Sylvester 34years, Richard Gamor;age 28, Haruna Kodo; age 23, Issah Joseph; age 26, Mukalia Alhassan; 20 years, Lumor Apator; age 29, Fatawu Adams;age 28, Kwagise Tsotovor; 48 years, and Bertha Tetteh; age 35.
