Police arrest 33, impound 45 motorbikes in massive pre-Christmas swoop

The Central East Regional Police Command conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal activities in three different locations in the Senya Beraku area of the Central Region.

The exercise, which took place on December 17, 2025, saw the team first visit Kukwado, a coastal area, where six suspects were arrested with substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other related items.

Four suspects, including a female, were arrested at a yellow house near a cemetery with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, local gin ‘akpeteshie’ (laka), a 32-inch television set, and various brands of cigarettes.

Additionally, the team proceeded to Awiaso, where three suspects, including a female, were arrested with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a toy gun, shisha, local gin, and a game pot. The suspects’ hideouts were subsequently set on fire by the team.

In total, thirteen suspects were arrested across the three locations. The suspects include Michael Essel, 23; Frederick Koranteng, 23; James Essel, 24; Jones Koranteng, 20; Daniel Essibu, 30; Kofi Abbiw, 28; Kofi Essibu, 57; Klotey Poree, 26; Bismark Sarbeng, 26; Kojo Otoo, 24; Thomas Quartey, 22; Gladys Jackson, 19; and Florence Adenue, 25.

Both the suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
