Police arrest NPP's John Kumah for fraud

Reports reaching RadioXYZonline.com indicates that a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Kumah, has been arrested by the police.

Even though the details are sketchy, John Kumah is believed to have been arrested on bank fraud charges with another suspect.

He is said to have faked a National Investment Bank Bond Guarantee to secure a Japanese grant.

Sources say he was arrested late Wednesday afternoon and has since been in custody. He is currently being held at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra.

He is however yet to be questioned by the officers on his role as No official charges have been preferred against him yet.

Sources close to the NPP activist says he has denied the allegation, saying he is being sacrificed on the alter of political vendetta.

John Kumah is a known firebrand of the NPP who is a regular social commentator on radio. He is also a member of the communication team of the NPP.

It will be recalled that Mr. Kumah was arrested by the police in July 2011 for alleging that late President Mills and Ato Awhoi, a presidential advisor, have been engaging in a homosexual affair.

He was however granted bail and released as the Attorney General discontinued the case on the orders of the then president.
