Police arrest farmer for alleged murder of rival

Dzodze (V/R), Jan. 9 GNA - Christopher Gbolor, 40, a farmer is being held by the Police at Dzodze in connection with the death of his rival who was found murdered at Agblemor near Wheta in the Ketu district during the Christmas festivities Dogbeda Torfu, 38, the deceased's girl friend is also in custody assisting in investigations.

The deceased was named as Logosu Agbefu, 36, also a farmer. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr. Baba Moro, the Acting District Police Commander of Dzodze told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the deceased, his girl friend and Gbolor resided at Agbledome, situated around the Afife Irrigation area. He said in the evening of Wednesday, December 28, last year, Gbolor, alias Togbui who was suspected to be also in an amorous relationship with the deceased's girl friend joined the deceased and their common lover in marking the festivities at various drinking spots in the area.

Mr Moro said the deceased was found murdered with four deep cutlass wounds at the back of his head and his right arm almost severed at the shoulder level at a spot near the village the following day.

He said Torfu, upon her arrest claimed she parted company with the deceased and Gbolor at about 2100 hours that night.

Gbolor, went into hiding briefly after the incident but was picked up by the police at the weekend. Mr. Moro said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Saint Anthony's Hospital morgue at Dzodze pending autopsy.
