Accra, Nov. 9, GNA - Two brothers, who allegedly conspired to rob the director of Comfort Plast Ghana Limited, have been arrested.
Eric Kofie, 24, a machine operator and Solomon Baligah, 20, unemployed were arrested during the act at the premises of the company.
Briefing journalists in Accra on Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Timothy Yoosi Bonga, Nima Divisional Police Commander, said on Wednesday, November 3, this year, the police received information that Kofie had conspired with his brother Baligah to recruit armed robbers from Nima to rob the company.
He said the Greater Accra Regional and Divisional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) asked some police personnel led by DSP Amos Yelisong to pose as armed robbers and were recruited by Baligah.
ACP Bonga said on the night of Friday, November 5, Baligah led the "armed robbers" to the premises of the company where Kofie had placed a ladder behind the director's office for easy access into it.
He said Baligah was arrested when giving directives to the police personnel to climb up into the office and Kofie was arrested the next day at the company premises, and during interrogation they admitted the offence.
In another development, Victor Afatsawu, a taxi driver, was arrested for allegedly stealing the belongings of a passenger.
ACP Bonga said on Monday, November 1, Mr Patel Bhavan, an Indian Businessman boarded the taxi from Kokomlemle to Circle, but stopped at a Travel and Tour Company near Apollo Theatre to check his flight schedule and asked the driver to wait for him.
He said when the passenger returned, Afatsawu had bolted with his three handbags, HP digital camera, a Nokia cell phone and GH¢1,000.
ACP Bonga reported the incident to the Nima Police who traced the suspect through itemized phone records and arrested him on Sunday, November 7, at his residence in Awutu Papase near Kasoa.
The police retrieved all the items except the cash.
ACP Bonga appealed to the public to volunteer information on the activities of criminals to the police to enable them to clamp down on crime.
He advised passengers to take down the registration numbers of vehicles that they board to assist in investigations when robbed.
