Police arrest three cocaine suspects

The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested three persons for possessing 485 parcels of whitish substances suspected to be cocaine.

The three were arrested at about 1400 hours on July 1, 2015 at Odumase Krobo in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, the Regional Head of Public Affairs Department of the Command, told the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua.

He said the suspects who were assisting the Police in their investigations are Gifty Tetteh, 37, a business woman; Teye Kwabena, 29, a suspected a cocaine dealer; and Joseph Tetteh, 25, an errand boy for Gifty.

According to ASP Nketia-Yeboah, Teye Kwabena was the first to be arrested at Saisi, a suburb of Odumase Krobo with 375 parcels of the suspected cocaine by the District Commanders for Akuse and Somanya - ASP Francis Ackah and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Albert Daletse - when they embarked on a joint patrol at Odumase Krobo and its environs.

He said Gifty was arrested when Teye mentioned her name as the source of his supply of the suspected substances.

ASP Nketia-Yeboah said, the Police, after a thorough search at Gifty’s house, discovered another 125 parcels of the substance in a room where Tetteh, Gifty’s errand boy was hiding, and he was subsequently arrested.

The suspected parcels of cocaine, according to the ASP Nketia-Yeboah are yet to be sent to the Narcotic Control Board for testing, adding that, the Police also retrieved GH¢ 3, 500.00, 200 Euros, 20 pounds sterling, and 24 CFA from Gifty’s house.

He said, Gifty upon interrogations, claimed ownership of the suspected substance and the money, and stated that the Police were preparing to arraign the suspects.
