Mr David Ampah-Bennin, Volta Regional Police Commander made this known at a press briefing at the end of his familiarisation tour of the Ketu South District. He said two locally manufactured pistols two knives and police trousers and T-Shirts were found in Adu's room.

He said reports indicated that Adu said to be from Logba-Alakpeti was arrested by a local watchdog committee, for snatching a mobile phone. The suspect stopped and arrested one Atsu Klomega for using an unregistered motorbike.

Mr Ampah-Bennin said Gavor demanded one Ghana-cedi and the keys to the bike. He said Mr Klomega refused to hand over the keys, resulting in a scuffle, which attracted onlookers who demanded Gavor's identity card, which he could not produce and was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police.

The Police Commander said Gavor told the police that he stole the police trousers on a drying line at the Keta Police Barracks. He said the police with the co-operation of their Togolese counterparts also arrested perpetrators of a January 14, robbery at Denu. They are Victor Setorwufia, 40, Auto-Mechanic, from Denu, Prosper Azaglo, alias Papa, 31, unemployed from Aflao, Kingsley John Okeke, 33, a Togo based Nigerian also known as Ken and Harrison Komla Efiatukpey, 31 year-old Porter from Aflao. Mr Ampah-Bennin said Kwaku Amemor, a transport owner was asleep outside his room, when Atsu led six others to attack him and stole 9,800 Ghana cedis and 4 million CFA Francs.

He said the thieves armed with an AK 47 assault rifle bound Amemor's hands and legs with a piece of cloth and towel and inflicted machete wounds on him.

Mr Ampah-Bennin said a search in Azaglo's room revealed one blood stained machete, a face mask, a pair of military camouflage shorts, a pair of hand gloves and an iron cutter. He said an LG mobile phone identified to be that of the victim was found in Efiatukpey's room.

Mr Ampah-Bennin said those arrested were facing court proceedings. As part of the tour, Mr Ampah Bennin interacted with commanders of other security services, urging them to continue to collaborate with the police in the fight against criminals and nation wreckers. He commended the Ketu-South District Assembly for providing logistics support to the police including, vehicles and food ration.
