Nsuobeto (E/R), Oct. 25, GNA - The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Police Service has appealed to the public to help identify seven people, who died in a motor accident on Sunday at Nsuobeto on the Koforidua-Mamfe highway.
Five of them, including the driver of a Nissan Urvan bus, with registration Number GR2044 N, died on the spot when the vehicle, which was travelling from Accra to Koforidua, skidded off the road and crashed into a tree.
According to police sources, two other people died at the Koforidua Regional Hospital, while the remaining six men who received various degrees of injuries were on admission at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
The bodies of the dead, three women and four men, had been deposited at the hospital's morgue awaiting autopsy. According to an eyewitness, Mr Kwame Fori, he was weeding on his cocoa farm, near the spot of the accident, when he heard the sound of the crash and rushed out to see the white Urvan bus with the inscription "Divine Wisdom Preparatory School crushed into a tree with the passengers in it".
At the time Ghana News Agency (GNA) got to the scene of the accident on Sunday morning, three men and a woman, who were among passengers in the vehicle, were lying down near the vehicle dead, while the dead driver was trapped behind the steering wheel and people using axes to cut open the vehicle to get the body out of the mangled vehicle.
