Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Mr Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has denied media reports that he has been arrested by the Police.
Graphic Online Thursday evening reported that the MP has been arrested for allegedly inciting the people in his constituency to clash with Fulani herdsmen Wednesday.
According to the report, the MP Thursday together with Mr Ernest Owusu Bempah were arrested by the Ashanti regional police command.
The utterances of the two, according to the Graphic, led to a confrontation between Fulani herdsmen and some farmers in Ejura.
But the MP told TV3 Online Thursday night that the report is false as he has been in Parliament late Thursday, saying "I'm in my office now".
“It’s not true! The Police can’t arrest me. I’m a Member of Parliament, you can’t arrest me without getting clearance from the speaker,” he said.
The Graphic has since corrected the story, noting that the Police in the Ashanti Region are rather looking for the two for allegedly inciting the people of Agogo to violence.
