THE Eastern Regional Police Command has declared wanted a 54-year-old man who attempted to murder his 72-year-old mother at Osubeto – a small community near Okorase in the Akuapem North Municipality.
The suspect, Kwadwo Adu, fled after inflicting machete wounds on his mother – Ofeibea Vida – in an attempt to kill her for unknown reasons.
The Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the incident said the timely intervention of some neighbours, who heard Vida Ofeibea’s cry for help, saved her from further injuries.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh disclosed that “on October 31, Georgina Gyampo, a farmer, accompanied by one other person reported that while at home she heard a neighbour Vida Offeibea screaming for help. She revealed that upon rushing to the house of Vida Offeibea, she met Kwadwo Adu alias Kudjo, a known mentally ill person, assaulting her with a machete”.
According to him, the suspect absconded with the machete when he heard his name being mentioned. Upon receipt of the complaint, the police visited the scene where a pool of blood was seen on the ground. The victim was rushed to the Koforidua Regional Hospital for treatment.
DSP Ebenezer Tetteh further confirmed on Accra-based Citi FM that “the medical officer on duty Dr. Samuel Asante informed us that the victim had deep wounds on both hands, neck and the head. The statement was taken from the victim whiles frantic efforts are being made to trace and arrest the suspect”.
DSP Ebenezer Tetteh then called on the general public to assist the police by providing information to arrest Kwadwo Adu.
