Police commissions Neighbourhood Watch Committee

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Kwaku Osei Ampofo-Duku, the Second-in-Command of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, has sworn in a 13-member Neighbourhood Watch Committee at Drononso in the Sekyere-Afram Plains, to complement police efforts to maintain law and order in that community.

The induction coincided with inauguration of the District Police Station

ACP Ampofo-Duku advised the team chaired by Mr Kwaku Amoah, to show exceptional character to match the work entrusted into their hands and desist from any criminal activity.

He cautioned them not to usurp the authority of the police, or obstruct their work, but to work hand-in-hand with them, adding “you should not take the law into your own hands by beating suspects”.

ACP Ampofo-Duku advised them against the use of firearms when carrying out their activities, whilst also urging them to work with integrity and humility.

Mr Alex Adomako Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, appealed to the police personnel to forge a cordial relation with the people, and not intimidate them.

Nana Dankwah Gyebi Siaw, Chief of Drobonso, was happy government had provided police structure and personnel, and used the occasion to appeal for a medical doctor to man the health centre at Drobonso.
