The Ghana Police Service has confirmed an accident involving two police vehicles and a motorcyclist in the Ridge area of Accra on Wednesday, October 29, 2026, but has denied claims that the victim was abandoned at the scene without being taken to hospital.
According to a graphic.com.gh report on October 30, 2026, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Police Service indicated that the motorcyclist, who is a civilian, was conveyed to Ridge Hospital for medical attention after the crash.
The accident occurred around the National Theatre area of Ridge.
According to the graphic.com.gh report, the team said it had taken notice of a Facebook post by journalist Umaru Sanda Amadu, alleging that a motorist was involved in a collision with police vehicles and was not taken to hospital by the officers.
The police explained that the incident involved service vehicle SV No. 115 and another vehicle belonging to the National Protection Unit (NPU). The officers were reportedly on what the service described as an “important assignment”.
“Preliminary enquiries indicate that the assigned service driver quickly conveyed the victim to Ridge Hospital for medical attention. The victim subsequently confirmed that he had received medical treatment from the Ridge Hospital and was discharged,” the police said.
The service added that the victim had indicated that the officers involved in the accident settled all his medical bills.
It further said the motorcyclist was continuing to take his prescribed medication while recovering at home.
The police noted that the case was under investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident and determine whether any further action was necessary.
