Public Relations Officer for the Police CID, ASP Benefo Darkwa, has dismissed public criticisms over the swiftness with which it prosecuted Constable Nicholas Owusu Asante, bodyguard of the Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Rachel Appoh.

The bodyguard was sentenced to 20 years in prison for fraud and stealing Thursday.

The entire case was concluded in three days.

Speaking to XYZNews the CID PRO said the case was not extraordinary.

According to him, most of their cases get solved swiftly once the burden of proof has been ruled out.

“It’s our normal way of doing things. When the case is reported and we get the enough evidence in that same day of the case we go to court,” he added.

ASP Benefo Darkwa says in this particular case, the evidence was submitted to the police in time and the suspect confessed to the crime hence the speedy trial.
