The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a 45-year-old pastor for alleged defilement and the production and possession of child sexual abuse materials at Woraba, a suburb of Eguase in Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The suspect, Ebenezer Conduah, who is the lead pastor of Mahanaim Christian Centre at Ankaful in Cape Coast, was arrested on March 6, 2026, during a joint intelligence-led operation involving the Police, the Cyber Security Authority and National Security.

According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and signed by Public Relations Officer Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly lured a 13-year-old Junior High School student into his home in August 2021 under the guise of providing spiritual counselling and behavioural correction.

The police indicated that the suspect allegedly subjected the victim to repeated sexual abuse over a period.

“He recorded the abuse on his mobile phone and, in some instances, forced the survivor to appear on camera referencing an adult pornographic website, with apparent intent to distribute the content online,” the statement said.

The incident came to light after the survivor reportedly confided in her school headmistress, which led to a complaint being lodged with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the police in Cape Coast.

Following the suspect’s arrest, police searched his residence and retrieved several items, including an HP laptop, three external hard drives, five pen drives, an Android mobile phone, and a tablet, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis.

Police say the suspect has been remanded into prison custody and is expected to reappear in court on March 27, 2026, while investigations continue.
