Harriet Amuzu claimed the police took no action when she reported her handsband
A woman captured in a viral video being assaulted by her husband, John Odartey Lamptey, has claimed that despite multiple reports of abuse to the Tesano and Ofankor Police Stations, no action was taken.
Speaking in an interview on TV3, monitored by GhanaWeb on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Harriet Amuzu recounted, "I reported the assault case several times at the Tesano Police Station. I reminded the officers that I was the same person whose husband had inserted pepper into my private parts.
"I showed them my wounds and informed them that he had taken custody of the children, aged seven and two. They later invited him to the station, and he even destroyed my phone in the presence of the police. It was the police officer who gave me money at that time because I did not have any," she shared.
In the latest attack, the victim said she was attending a funeral when her husband called, claiming their two-year-old child was seriously ill.

"I rushed home, only to find the children playing. He later admitted that he lied because he wanted to have sex with me," she explained.
She told him she would return to her village the following morning, which angered Lamptey, who accused her of disrespecting him and refusing to sleep with him for nearly five months.

"He told me he had trapped me to kill me," she added.
According to her, Lamptey then instructed one of the children, Daniel, to take the others outside. Once they left, he locked the door and launched a violent attack.
"He tore my dress and undershorts, saying he bought them. He tore the beads around my waist and left me naked. He beat me with the metal rod of a standing broom and stepped on me," she narrated.
The assault escalated when Lamptey picked up a knife and threatened to cut off her hand. A neighbour, known as Oketeku, briefly intervened and managed to take the knife from him, but Lamptey allegedly forced him out and continued the assault.
The victim further alleged that her husband smeared pepper between her thighs and private parts before forcibly having sex with her.
