The Western Regional Police Command has impounded 110 vehicles for various traffic offences in a special exercise to minimise road crashes.
The offending motorists were arraigned at a Takoradi Circuit Court, on Tuesday, for driving with expired driving documents: driver’s license, insurance policies, and roadworthy certificates.
Other offences are driving with broken windscreens, worn-out tyres, and without triangles, thus endangering the lives of passengers and other road users.
The Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, told the GNA in an interview at Takoradi, that the exercise was conducted by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service to enforce road traffic regulations to ensure sanity on the roads and save lives.
The exercise, led by the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Isaac Alex Quainoo, was simultaneously conducted at the Sekondi, Takoradi and Sefwi-Wiawso Police Divisions on Monday, September 8.
ASP Olivia Adiku charged motorists to abide by the road traffic regulations to avoid a brush with the law.
