A police inspector, Bright Appiah Danquah, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for alleged involvement in a robbery incident.

According to a report by CrimeCheck Ghana, Bright Appiah Danquah who is said to be stationed at Abuakwa, was arrested in Kumasi after he was allegedly linked to a series of robberies, including the robbery of a mobile money vendor.

In a post shared on X by SikaOfficial, it was alleged that the police officer mistakenly left his phone at one of the robbery scenes.

The report further indicated that he later visited a police station to officially report the phone as missing. However, investigations allegedly connected the device and other evidence to several robbery incidents in Kumasi.

It also noted that the victim, identified as Victoria Arkoh, claimed that the inspector allegedly robbed her of GH¢38,600 at gunpoint.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with some netizens expressing disappointment in the police officer's conduct.

While some social media users criticised the officer, others called for stricter scrutiny and continuous sensitisation during and after recruitment into the police service.
