Police investigate Kumbungu-Mashegu clash

Police have begun investigations into a land dispute that led to the stabbing of one person in the Northern Region on Sunday, March 22, an officer told TV3 on Monday.

The dispute was between the people of Kumbungu and Mashegu.

“So far, no arrests have been made,” disclosed the Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command.

Speaking on TV3 on Monday, March 23, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh stated that the two communities were contesting boundaries to a parcel of land, resulting in the clash.

He said the stabbed victim is receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital while two other injured victims were treated and discharged on Sunday.

“So far, investigations are ongoing,” he mentioned, adding that: “We are receiving cooperation from both parties”.

He indicated also that police presence have been boosted in the two communities to forestall any case of reprisal attacks.
