The Police in the Twifo-Ati Mokwa District have commenced investigations into how the security detail of the MP for the area allegedly inflicted serious cutlass wounds on four persons during the New Patriotic Party’s constituency executive elections.

The attack, according to the victims, was prompted by the defeat of a candidate the MP, Abraham Odoom, was alleged to have presented to contest the incumbent constituency chairman who had the support of the DCE.

One Kwamina, popularly known as foreman, has been named as the ring leader of the group that attacked the victims which left them with multiple wounds in the head and other parts of their bodies.

The matter was reported to the Twifo-Praso Police which issued the victims with Police forms to seek medical care. They have since been medically examined and a report issued to the Police.

District Police Commander, ASP Emmanuel Narh, told Takoradi-based Connect FM Tuesday that the case has nothing to do with the constituency elections as is being alleged by some people.

He stated that there was no problem during the elections, saying “We did not encounter any problems during the elections.”

“It was later that someone reported the alleged attack to me and we are investigating to ascertain the facts and know the way forward”, he assured.

Meanwhile, one of the victims, Illiasu Ibrahim who narrated how the incident happened to Connect FM said he migrated from the Northern Region to the area some years ago and was hosted by the same people who attacked him.

“I came to the Central Region from the Northern Region some years ago to work with them.I realized my friends were engaged in thuggery and other unsavoury activities for a living which was not in sync with my persona” he recalled.

In view of that, Illiasu said “I approached the District Chief Executive [Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi] that I wanted to be part of his security detail which he agreed but this decision I made did not go down well with my friends”.

According to him, in the wake of the defeat suffered by the MP’s candidate triggered the attack on himself and the others.
