The Juapong Police in the North-Tongu District is investigating an alleged arson on the Brotherhood Orphanage and Basic School near the Police Barrier at Juapong on Monday May 12, this year.

Rev. Samuel De-Souza, the Proprietor of the school told the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, the arson was a culmination of hostilities by the supposed landowners to dispossess him of a land properly acquired.

He said the hostilities, which started on Saturday March 22, 2014 included physical attacks, during which he (Rev. De-Souza) was injured.

Rev. De-souza said as a result of the burning of the school, he had to relocate pupils whose parents and guardians could not be reached immediately to Aflao.

He said the school has classes from kindergarten to Junior High School.

Mr. Jonas Agbevam, Peki District Police Commander, when contacted said the Juapong police had received report of the arson attack and that investigations were ongoing.

He said events leading to the alleged torching of the school were due to a wrangling between Rev De-Souza and some others disputing his ownership of the land on which the said orphanage was located
