The final of the 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) was bordered by tight security, with a Police officer being dispatched to protect the handbag of the quiz mistress.
Other officers were also dispatched to vantage points in the aisles and close to the stairs leading to the stage before the final scores were announced.
It will be recalled that Dr. Elsie Kaufmann’s handbag was infamously stolen during last year’s final of the quiz competition.
Having mediated the final of the NSMQ competition between Prempeh College and Adisadel College, the quiz mistress could not find her handbag which she said contained a lot of her valuables.
In it were her car keys, ID cards, keys to room, cash and other valuables. As a result, Dr. Elsie Kaufmann opted to mediate all of this year’s contests with a specially-made paper handbag.
The situation was, however, far from repeating itself, as Police officers graced this year’s NSMQ final to protect the quiz mistress’ handbag.
Before the final results were announced, a Policeman graced the aisle and took hold of the quiz mistress’ handbag to prevent it from being stolen again.
However, it is not clear whether the organizers of the competition brought the security officer to protect the bag.
The final of the 2018 NSMQ was won by St. Peter’s Senior High School, who defeated Adisadel College and West Africa Senior High School.
