Police place six highways on security alert

The Police service is warning motorists who ply the Graphic road, George Walker Bush Highway and other key roads in Accra to be cautious of criminals.

In a statement, the Police also mentioned areas such as the Accra Mall roundabout, Awudome Cemetery road, Pokuase-Amasaman road and the La Beach, on the Teshie- Nungua road, as some of the hot spot for criminal activities.

According to the Police, the “caution is based on empirical analysis of street crime trends within the region where some miscreants deprive commuters of handy items and personal valuables such as mobile phones, tablets, handbags and laptops at the least distraction or inattentiveness".

The statement added: “While the Police continues to embark on pragmatic step including rush-hour duties, visibility patrols, motorbike patrols, intelligence-led operations among others for which, security reasons, cannot be made public to nib the situation in the bud, it is entreating the Public to be extra vigilant when plying the above traffic-prone areas”.
