New Edubiase (Ash.), April 7, GNA - Proceedings at the New Edubiase District Magistrate's Court was on Thursday brought to a sudden halt when a police prosecutor in a domestic violence case collapsed in the course of presenting the facts of the case.

Police Inspector Charles T. Amevor, 56, of the New Edubiase Police Station died shortly on arrival at the New Edubiase District Hospital. He was presenting the facts in a case involving one Kwame Nkrumah who had been charged with assaulting his wife.

Inspector Amevor suddenly fell down from his table in the course of the proceedings, while the accused stood in the dock.

Mr Peter Osei Kwame, the presiding judge, who looked visibly disturbed over the incident, immediately adjourned the proceedings to enable the court officials to rush him to the hospital.

The New Edubiase Police who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency, said preparations were underway to convey the body to the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy. 7 April 05
