The Ghana Police Service has secured a restraining order from court to stop the planned anti-corruption demonstration by the Progress People’s Party (PPP) on Tuesday.

Greater Accra Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Freeman Tetteh, told Joy News even though the police had discussions with officials of the party about why they are not in a position to provide them with security, the party would not budge.

Police said they are unable to provide protection for the exercise tomorrow because of national security ban on public demonstrations.

According to the party, the police's action is calculated to stop them from pursuing their constitutional right.

National Chairman of the party Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond told Joy News the police appeal is belated.

This compelled the police to resort to the law court to force the party to abandon the intended demonstration.
