The police in Ashanti have seized large quantity of pepper spray and other self-defence devices meant for use by the military and detained one person.

Fifty (50) pieces of American style NATO super-paralisant pepper spray, 77 self-defensive flashlights with shockers, 29 pepper spray and 20 night flashlights with shockers, were removed from an electrical shop in Asante Mampong.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Osei Ampofo Duku, the Deputy Regional Commander, told a news briefing that they acted upon intelligence.

He said this happened on May 06 and gave the name of the suspect as Kwame Afrifa.

He said the case would be transferred to the national headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for thorough investigation to unravel how these got into the hands of the suspect.

ACP Ampofo Duku said it was an offence for anybody to deal in arms without license.
