Police service not corrupt institution - Koku Anyidoho

Despite bastardization and allegations of corruption against the service, the Ghana Police Service remains one of the finest institutions in the country. This is according to the embattled Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho

“You can have all your perception indices and put the police on top as the corrupt institution but what I saw, heard and went through, we have a professional police”, he said in an interview MYNEWSGH.com monitored.

According to him, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Services did a perfect work when he was arrest for allegedly spewing words deem inciting and ‘treasonous’.

“I was not tortured, I was not manhandled; they had a job to do and they did it,” the NDC Deputy General pointed out insisting he has not been charged for any offense.

“On January 13, 1972, a certain Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong led a movement that removed the Progress Party from power. Busia was the Prime Minister and Akufo-Addo’s father was a ceremonial president. Somebody should tell Nana Akufo-Addo that history has a very interesting way of repeating itself. There’ll be a civil revolt,” Mr Anyidoho said in an interview.

He was picked up in dramatic fashion Tuesday afternoon when he and other members of the First Ghana Patriotic movement were holding a press conference to outline plans for the anti-US military deal demonstration on Wednesday.

Anyidoho had spent 48 hours in the custody of the BNI after he was arrested for making comments such unsavoury and treasonable.
